The rose is represented in all cultures, religions and folklore. The scent transports you instantly into worlds of love and beauty.
The rose reminds me of an interview I listened to many years ago about a war torn country where the people were barely surviving. Every inch of their properties was used to grow food. The interviewer spotted a rosebush in full bloom and asked why would you grow roses, that take up precious space. The response was, "The soul also needs to be fed, it gives hope to one's life." I was taken aback by the answer.
Even in the heart of conflict we still need a hint of beauty in our lives to survive hardship.
My favorite quote is "Stop and Smell the Roses."
